Alliance of Students Against Poverty

Raise Funds

Objective: Raise funds for existing organizations that successfully reach and serve the world’s poorest families.

Goals: 2008-2009 School Year

  1. 1000 $1/day pledges - $360,000
  2. $25,000 in fundraising events
  3. Provide 2 grants to ASAP partners

Practical solutions and interventions are available to help eradicate extreme poverty worldwide.  There are many non-profit organizations throughout the world making use of these solutions in their effort to reach and assist millions of the world’s poorest families.  Nevertheless, many families are not being served because these organizations lack the financial and human resources to expand their efforts.

This is where ASAP and people from around the world can make a difference.

To support and expand the outreach of the world’s organizations that are eradicating extreme poverty, ASAP plans to raise a multi-billion dollar fund over the next 17 years through its “$1/day for those living on less than $1/day” Pledge Campaign

ASAP and its members are encouraging two million global citizens to donate $1/day and sustain that commitment until the year 2025.  The richest 20% of the world’s population consume more than 85% of the world’s resources, which is why ASAP asks global citizens to economize and set aside $1/day to help a family in need.

As demonstrated numerous times throughout history, the kindness of humanity has shined brightly through times of darkness and suffering.  Whether it was the Asian Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina or the Great Sichuan Earthquake, mankind has risen to the occasion and helped those who suffer and that are in need.

At a time when donors are demanding more transparency and accountability from those they support, ASAP is committed to meeting those demands.  ASAP students are intimately involved in the research, selection and monitoring of our funded organizations.  They ensure the $1 a Day Campaign Fund is being used in the most effective way, and they provide donors with on-the-ground footage, stories and experiences of those individuals that ASAP is supporting on the road to economic self-reliance.
