I went to Haiti through ASAP in the summer of 2009, and I worked at the Fonkoze Foundation, which is the biggest microfinancing organization there. If you want to learn more about what I did there, you can visit the site at http://yesolinhaiti.blogspot.com.
As a history major, I like to think about world/international/global/transnational history. The concept of 'nation-state' has been fascinating for me, and I have done research on how legal institutions are used to enforce/construct nation-states(I examined national security laws, citizenship laws, etc.).
I am also interested in sustainable development(more about economic side of it), world hunger, and human rights issues( since I am also a human rights concentrator). I have participated in Oxfam and International Amnesty in high school, and I am still interested the efforts trying to improve the conditions of the poor in the world.
I am still in the process of finding out what I want to be, and how I can contribute to the global process of ending absolute poverty in near future. I think ASAP is a good start ;)
